This series of blogs will break down the different types of video your business could make so that you can choose the right one for you.

The Animated Explainer

An explainer video, as you might expect, tries to explain something. Usually taking a product, service, piece of technology or company and breaking it down to help anyone understand.

Animation is a fantastic medium for explainers as anything can be achieved. This means that difficult concepts or ideas can be represented in a simple and user friendly way.

But my business is far too serious for a cartoon?

People can think of animation as being childish and inappropriate for business and I understand this perspective but let me put across the other side of things…

Not all animation has to be cartoony. This simple animation tells an important story about a company without ever feeling like a Saturday morning cartoon. Animation is a broad discipline and you will usually find a style that is right for you or your business.

The reason that animation has lasted for so long as a medium primarily associated with children is that it is both versatile and excellent for conveying complicated things in a very simple and easy to understand way. Think about all the children’s cartoons that tried to explain loss, or bullying. If it can do all that surely it is capable of explaining your product or service?

Embrace the childishness. People watched animation growing up. As such it feels warm, friendly and draws on people’s nostalgia. If your goal is to connect with your audience then this is a powerful tool you would be foolish to ignore.
